Realmwood Forest & Inoche

The continent of Inoche was once a very harmonious natural landscape home to mortals and gods alike.

However, due to the Dread War which took place over 150 years ago, the indigenous people of the continent and the gods had all disappeared. What remained were remnants of civilization and a tainted war-torn wasteland. The Realmwood Forest was miraculously able to thrive in said wasteland due to Wilderfae magic, and stands alone in a desolate battlefield for miles.

While most of the outside land is still uninhabitable, time is healing its wounds and new creatures have begun migrating to the new Wilderfae driven habitat in search of food and sanctuary.

Pictured here is the Realmwood Forest, cultivated by Wilderfae magic and home to numerous kinds of flora & fauna.

Rooted in Magic

The Realmwood Circle sits at the heart of the forest, surrounded by a dense thicket of trees, vines, shrubs, and leaf litter making it very hard to traverse through for larger beings. However, all Wilderfae can sense the warmth of the circle through their antennae and can easily navigate their way there without getting lost. 

Heart of the Forest

Here stands the Arcane Fount that birthed the Realmwood Forest. The Spawning Ritual that took place over 50 years ago, harnessed the magic of the fount into a towering lamppost and surrounded it with a protective circle of Sporite Towers. What looks like a simple circle of mushrooms is actually the source of all Sporites. Because of this, the area is bustling with their kind.

Where They Come Together

Most important governmental affairs and meetings take place in the circle since this is where the Sporeguard lives. While the vocational factions have headquarters all throughout the forest, the main leaders will gather here to report back to each other. Many Wilderfae have homes, businesses, and schools within the circle due to the environment being rich in magic. It is also a safe place that keeps out invasive creatures, making it the perfect grounds for starting anew in the Wilderfae community.

Wilderfae Villages

There are numerous Wilderfae Villages throughout the forest but there are three large, primary locations that house families and businesses within them.

  • Ephemera Canopy

    The Ephemera Canopy is known for being a vibrantly lush and fruitful area suited for Wilderfae who prefer the higher altitudes. Many fruits, vegetables, and nuts grow up in the treetops making it rich in resources. 

    However, it is also a popular spot for other insects, birds, and rodents to live in, so it gets awfully noisy and busy. That said, Wilderfae have found ways to live in harmony with the residents. Most Wilderfae homes exist in hives or hollowed out Ichor Trees here.

  • Vermillion Swamp

    For Wilderfae who love being near water and surrounded by the dewy atmosphere. A large murky swamp is located on the southern side of the forest allowing many aquatic types of flora and fauna to flourish here. Perfect for ranches and businesses, who specialize in these resources.

    Wilderfae make their homes on the swamp’s lily pads or around the perimeter of the water. It can be a lovely place if you don’t mind the humidity and loud Ribbaa croaks at night!

  • Gravelrock Run

    Mixed with dirt and soil, the long stretch of rocky ground on Gravelrock Run is a common place for many underground dwellers to lurk. Many different materials can be found in Gravelrock Run, especially Shards which are used to power a lot of magic equipment.

    Wilderfae looking to mine for Shards, minerals, or stay on the ground will choose to live in Gravelrock Run. The rugged land makes it a prime place for more hardcore sports and parties.

The Inochean Wastes

Beyond the Realmwood Forest is a barren wasteland trying to find its footing after the Dread War 150 years ago. The colorless, dull landscape is enough to turn any Wilderfae away from venturing outward, but it also holds many secrets. But those who choose to venture beyond the wastes may never return… 

Reports of strange monsters lurk beyond the Realmwood Forest. Averse to magic, they refuse to enter but may attack any who leave. Beware.
